
The handrails and walkways are all based around etched brass stanchions and brackets, linked with 0.8mm wire. These can be made up in two ways: in situ on the model, or holes drilled in a piece of ply to act as a jig before transferring the finished items to the model after painting. I always make up the railings in situ, ensuring that all the upright stanchions remain at right angles or are all at the same required angle as per the plan.
