TRENT Class Lifeboat -  Kit Code MS-11

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is a Registered Charity which exists to save life at sea. It provides, on call, the 24-hour service necessary to cover search and rescue requirements to 50 miles out from the coast of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. The Trent class lifeboat has been designed and developed by RNLI staff as a permanently afloat lifeboat to replace the now ageing fleet of Waveney's. The design requirement was for a lifeboat capable of great speed and providing protected propellers and the ability to take the ground if required. The Trent is capable of 25 knots and, like all new all-weather lifeboats, is self-righting after a capsize.  Click to view photos of the original Trent lifeboat and models in the Gallery.

The Kit: the kit includes approximately 1200 parts and is recommended for the more experienced model maker. With twin propellers Trent is highly manoeuvrable and performance on the water is realistic and true to scale. A royalty fee of £10 on the sale of every kit is paid to the RNLI *.

Kit Contents: A detailed glassfibre hull; running gear and propellers. Die-cut and printed styrene for deck, superstructure and a highly detailed wheelhouse interior which includes seven seats, tables and instrumentation. A set of cast metal window frames. Fittings manufactured from high grade casting alloy and two frets of etched brass components. Vacuum formed model stand. Numerous assembly drawings and three main plans.

Not supplied: Livery set consisting of lifeboat emblems, numbers, lettering and name plates for any Trent in the fleet are available direct from Barry's Model Lettering in Leicester, Tel/Fax: 0116 2756158, www.modellettering.com.  Crew figures, flags, paints and adhesives not supplied.
